Cask ownership is possibly the dream purchase for most whisky fans – the idea of having their own, personal spirit maturing for either their later enjoyment or as an investment sounds incredibly appealing. I take a look at the different offerings currently available.
Okay, this may be slightly misleading but bear with me here. Over he past 18 months, I’ve been on a bit of a health drive losing a few (several) stone along the way. Part of this, I think I can put down to whisky.
Matt and I had the opportunity to try the Laphroaig Select yesterday at the whisky weekender festival. This is what we thought of the new expression.
How I got started with Whisky
So for years I’d been drinking beer, and had always been interested in trying different beers. I think I mainly got it from my dad as him and his mate would always seek out different beers from around the world – and this was back in the early 1990’s before Tesco et al. and the internet made it easy to pick up a Blue Moon from the US and a Cobra lager from India in the same basket – we had to search for these things back then! To celebrate the start of possibly the most important annual sporting event, we ran the first Six Nations themed whisky tasting evening, featuring whiskies from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy (well almost).
